Every once in a while I have a day where I just feel like giving my kids back and calling it good. Don't get me wrong, I would never really trade my kids for anything, and all the other cliche things people say about a mothers love for her children apply here...

but some days really SUCK.

Somehow these days usually show up when Greg is out of town. And it's not just that he isn't there to help me (though that is greatly missed), it's that the weirdest, craziest, most horrible things always seem to happen when he is gone. All at once. When I am ALONE.

He was at youth conference today. I should have known.

Quin has decided that she is pretty big now. Too big for her own good. For the past few days this is how I have found her in her crib.

This morning she was being pretty fussy so I put her back down thinking she needed a bit more sleep. She didn't really like the idea and was protesting pretty loudly. After a while I heard a thump. I didn't think too much of it at first, but after a second, I thought about it again and wondered if she had somehow fallen out of her crib. I went in to check on her, and the poor thing was ON THE FLOOR. Yeah, she is nine months old (on Monday), and she fell out of her crib. I felt SO bad. I immediately lowered the mattress (as pictured above).
It's so weird because it had crossed my mind a few times to do that, but I hadn't gotten around to it because it just didn't look like she was tall enough to fall out. I guess she just leaned over enough and the weight took her the rest of the way... Not sure.
Oh my gosh. I still can't really think about it. I'm so glad she wasn't hurt.

The fun didn't end there.

Just when Quin fell out of her crib, I started to hear Carson awake in the other room. After I calmed Quincey down, we went in to get Carson up. Everything appeared to be normal until I noticed some "granola bar" in his crib. I don't give him food in his crib so there was only one other explanation. Poo Poo. I picked him up and a bunch more dropped out of his pants and on to the floor. This continued into the bathroom. Lovely. I had to hurry and hose him off (poo was everywhere!), all the while Quin was screaming on the floor wanting me to pick her up. Then of course I had to strip the crib (such a pain), and vacuum everything up. Oh, and continue to feel bad about my child falling out of the crib of course...

After all was said and done I needed some cheering up. So we decided to have a tea party. (one of Cars favorite pass times)

I must say that it worked.

The day started to look up. Greg called and told me he got to come home earlier than expected, and the kids seemed to be pretty happy.

It was all smooth sailing until bath time. Carson was super cranky because he skipped his nap, and Quin, well she is always a bit cranky. Carson was poopy so I put Quin down on the floor in her nursery. I took Carson into the bathroom, stripped him down, and washed him off. This only took a few seconds. All of a sudden Carson slips and falls, hits his head, and starts screaming. Then I look down and see that Quincey has somehow managed to crawl into the bathroom, grab hold of carsons poopy diaper, and has helped herself to some of the carsons chocolaty goodness. I about died. First of all, how the heck did she crawl that far so fast? And second of all, well, she was eating poo. I started screaming and yelling for greg. Luckily he came quickly to lend me a helping hand....

All I have to say is I hope tomorrow is better.

Poor kids. Turns out their mother is a fool...

What a sucky day - yet I couldn't help but laugh at the line "And second of all, well, she was eating poo"! Sorry.

Happy Mother's Day! I hope you get pampered :-)

Woah that WAS quite the day. I think every mother has days where she is ready to be "done". But you are an awesome mom and those kids are lucky to have you. You deserve to have a rockin mothers day after all of that!

I adore you! What a wonderfully horrible day you had. Wonderful because you are an amazing woman and horrible because one amazing woman can only take so much poo in one day!

I hope you had a poo free Mother's Day!

ps- I love the cloth tea set. Did you make?
