Yesterday we had big plans to go to the pumpkin patch. Problem was that every time we were about to head out the door, we would get side tracked... G kept having to work, tired kids, etc.
Finally I just took the kids for a walk instead. We went to the park, found huge leaves, and went on a fall decor hunt around the neighborhood (spiders, pumpkins, scare crows, scary cats...). Carson insisted on having one of the for sale houses ads, and told me it was a map, and away we went. At one point he told me that our last stop was the "palace of versaw" (Versailles). Uh what? Lately he has been doing that, you know, naming random castles? I guess the little Einsteins Halloween episode is paying off! :)

Around 5, we finally decided we could make it to the patch for an hour before closing. Only not the rides part of it.. Dang it. But we did see the mud and the pumpkins. Wahoo!
It was a gorgeous time of night, and of course I took a million pics.
Seriously? I love this one.
I hate to be cheesy on the blog, but I really really do love my family. This picture is awesome.
Of course carson wasted no time to jump in the mud. I just let him. Aren't you proud? I told myself that that is what rain boots are for. And I was right.
He also pretty much had a perma grin the entire time.
"I'm two!!"
Checking out that passing tractor...
This stinker wanted me the whole time. Of course. The second I want to do something else, (snap pictures) she has to have me. She is teaching me patience.
Car was disgusted by all the bugs on the pumpkins. ESPECIALLY this grasshopper. Bugs life has taught him that hoppers are mean. So, he spit on him. Naturally.
Quin is real good at giving kisses. Problem is, she likes to bite your lip while she is in for the kill. Greg's smile quickly turned upside down.
We got to ride on the tractor
And it dropped us off at the corn maze...
After about 10 feet of slippery mud steps, we quickly turned around.
Cars best friend
We didn't leave with any pumpkins because we already had some. We thought it best not to torture Carson with any more of those pumpkin seeds...

Well, the big boy bed is going well. Except for the tiny fact that he rolls out of it.
The first night he did good until around 7 in the morning when I heard a thump and crying. It was an early morning for us.
Last night I got smart and put pillows on the floor, and told him not to roll around. (genius eh?) When I went in to check on him before going to bed, it looked like he was adhering to my advice. He hadn't moved a muscle. (rare for this child. He NEVER sleeps on his back)
Greg and I thought all was good so we started a movie. Sometime in the middle of it I heard a loud thump and thought someone was breaking in to our house. Then I checked Cars monitor. His bed was empty. Fishy, I thought. No crying.
We went into his room and found this:
Fast asleep on the floor. I guess he didn't listen. Oh, well. Looks like the pillows helped.
After taking a few pictures, I saw him smiling. He slowly opened his eyes and I said "you fell out of your bed." He grinned and happily replied, "ya!" I'm pretty sure he was sleep talking though because I put him back on his bed and he was out...
Greg and I left the room and started dying laughing. One of our funniest parenting moments by far. But I think you had to be there.
Good news is, he hasn't gotten out of his bed without permission yet. Surprising but true. I suppose my threats of taking his buzz costume have paid off...

Seriously, Erin, the photo of the three of them with sunset is a-may-zing. I love it. Car's so funny in his bed! Maddie was the same way, didn't get up for almost the first year! We got a bedrail for her, so I wonder if that helped, she felt like she was still "in". I hope he stays as cooperative for you!
I remember I used to find Scottie on the floor under his bed, he would fall out and then somehow inch himself under with his legs so only his head would be sticking out. Ha Ha. I found a body pillow on the open side works really good. By the way, they have some sweet disney body pillows at Costco... :)
these pictures are amazing!! that one of quin on the pumpkin with the sun flare-- mmmm. love them all. it looked like a blast. i was going to go to the pumpkin patch with the moms group from our ward, but it was POURING that day, so i opted out, especially since i haven't gotten max rain boots yet:) but maybe i'll have to go sometime this week. car is soooo funny with the grasshopper!!
im a bit of a blog hopper. & I find myself at your blog often. Love it. Just one of those happy blogs that makes you glad to be a momma. You take amazing photos! Hope you don't mind strangers:)
great fall pics. glad to see you and D were able to meet up in Utah. Was missing my own dudeskis so I thought I'd check and see if you had any pics up of the trip to dinosaur park.
Erin, those pictures are gorgeous. Can you help me with a photo tip, though? In that shot that you (and I both) love of your fam, did you meter for the tree and then let the sunset expose your fam? It baffles me.
Aw chris, I bet your missing your fam. They have been gone FOREVER!!!!
Sad that I didn't have my camera in Utah, so I didn't get a single shot that day. Bummer.
Oh my gosh, I can't get over these pictures! Amazing!! Just absolutely stunning.
