We hit the ranch this weekend. For annual Elk hunting weekend, naturally.

Though I wasn't super jazzed about the idea at first (house under construction=crazy sleeping arrangements), we had a great time. Good company, pretty weather, warm fires (TOO warm, some might say), what else can you ask for really?

Though the boys didn't have any luck with the "bulls", us ladies and the kiddos had lots of luck taming the wild.

Saturday we went and explored. We found this huge tractor that Carson couldn't wait to get his hands on. We lifted him up and tried to open the door, locked. He turned around and said with grave concern, "Oh, no! It's locked! I need to drive!" Luckily we found a bunny hanging out underneath. Perfect distraction. We all know how Carson likes his bunnies.

Chiky dinner had lots of fun walking around the grounds trying to eat dirt. We all know how she loves her dirt.

This picture was funny because I told them to stand by each other so I could snap a picture. Well, chicky fell over, so Carson quickly "fell over" too. This is how they ended up.

We tried to catch a fish for Car, but they weren't biting. Luckily he was pacified just holding the pole. What a grin.

Notice the dirt in Quins hair? She had just gotten up from doing a head stand in the dirt. She had fallen over and just thought it would be cool to roll around in it for a second.

Carson was obsessed with his cowboy boots, and treated them with great seriousness. He HAD to have them on, and EVERY TIME I took them off (with out fail), he would say, "It's ok, it's just Carson! It's not a cowboy!" (He does this every time he wears his costumes too. For weeks now)

He liked this saddle. He would say "Wee Haw Cowboy!" and throw his arm in the air.

Every time we would go outside he would say, "I'm goin' huntin' mom." This was his gun.

The only thing he really hunted though was Sherman the dog. Oh, and mommy.

The other favorite was ranger rides. He had a hard time keeping those things on the road, and got quite offended when daddy put his hands on the wheel to help.

Good times I tell you. Until next year.

Random recent kid facts

1. Quincey is OBSESSED with grandpa. EVERY time she sees him, she gets so excited and has to have him hold her. Case in point: We were all in the ranger going for a ride. She was really happy until she saw Grandpa through the window, and about jumped out to get him. Crying, screaming, wiggling, until she got her grandpa.

2. Quincey likes to say wow!, dat, uh oh, and a few more that I can't think of, or can't decipher yet.

3. Today at the ranch, Carson wanted to see the antelope head so he came to me and said "mom, I want to see the cantaloupe."

4. Sometimes I ask Carson how old he is and he says "two old" while holding up two fingers.

Funny Carson words/expressions

I "flost" it: lost
It's too "fit": It doesn't fit, or is two small
I can't like that

5. Quin loves to give lots of hugs and kisses now.

6. Quin loves blankies, and is often times found rolling around on them on the floor, trying to burrow her face in. Just like her mama! :)

7. Quin and car have conversations that kill me. Senario: Quin and Car are both buckled in the back seat of the Car. Quin starts babbling jibberish non stop. After a few minutes car starts yelling crazy things like "No it's not quin! It's not shut!", or "it's buckled quin! It's buckled!" He just keeps yelling as long as she is babbling. Trying to convince her of whatever it is he is saying. It's so funny. It's as if he understands her jibberish and is setting her strait. Awesome.
