A few nights ago we carved pumpkins and made homemade donuts.

Following in family tradition, Quin was terrified of the pumpkin insides.

She cried, and cried, and hid her face.

Carson LOVED it, and jumped right in, making lovely holes much to daddies dismay... :)

Quin was excited about the carving part, and made a few lovely "ear" holes herself

I tried making yummy homemade donuts for the first time. They weren't pretty, but they were pretty good...

I even got to use my new sugar sifter from ikea. Life long dream accomplished. I have ALWAYS wanted one of those. (That may be what inspired me to make donuts..)

The finished product:

(too bad you can't see Quins lovely ear holes! lol. but they are now adorning our front porch if you want to come and take a closer look. haha.)

Carson did all the eyes on his pumpkin.

And the night ended with a tubby in the kitchen sink. Wahoo.

And in other news (I can't believe I did this because it makes me feel kind of ghetto, not to mention like a failure of a mother), but I got Quin a tent for her crib. lol.

After a month or so of her climbing out of her crib/toddler bed, with no signs of being deterred by my stern parenting skills (:)), I had had enough.

(ok, ok, I ordered it in a fit of frustration the other night at around midnight. I was laying peacefully in bed when all of a sudden I heard a bunch of screaming. I looked into the monitor and saw Carson sitting up in his bed, frantically hitting someone. That's right, it was Quincey. She had gone in and jumped on Carson, scaring him out of his sleep. Carson was shaking when I got to the crime scene. I had to hide my laughter from the funny sight, but I could have killed that little stinker.)

She seems to like it all right, but the first thing she said was "I stuck!". That's right sister, and you aint getting out any time soon! Muhahahaha.... jk

Actually, Carson is pretty jealous of the thing, and informed me that he is now going to start getting out of his bed so he can get a tent too. Don't even think about it...
Which reminds me of a story that I forgot to tell on the blog. A few weeks ago when we were in Seattle, I was putting the kids down for their nap. Carson REALLY wanted to put his pjs on since Quin was wearing hers, and I REALLY didn't want to change him into them. I told him that the only reason Quin was wearing hers, was because she had made her clothes all wet. Then I went to lay Quin down. When I came back, Carson told me that he wanted his jammies on, and I told him again that he didn't need to change. Then he proudly showed me that he too was all wet. Little bugger had peed all over himself just so he could wear his freaking pjs for his nap!! GROSS. Strong willed anyone? Yes, those are my children. :)

And the proof:
(Don't worry, she looks sad because she was awoken early from her nap. Not because she hates her tent! :) )

Hilarious. That first picture is classic! I'm jealous of your crib tent. We were having the same problem with our son climbing out of his crib/not staying in the toddler bed so I ordered a crib tent too. I was so stinkin' excited and thought all my problems had been solved. It wasn't made to fit our type of crib, but I thought for sure I could rig it up to work anyway - wrong! I had to return it. It was the saddest day of my life. Now we have a baby gate at the door, so at least when he gets out of bed he can't come bug us in the middle of the night :) I think he's trying to prepare me for the newborn sleep deprivation that's coming in a few months :)

The story about Carson kind of kills me. That's hilarious!

And recipe for the donuts? They look delicious. (I have the same sifter - & never, ever use it except when I make lemon bars, oops!)
