Since I am trying to catch up on the stories of the year, I thought I had better write about Italy or it would never happen.

Before I got prego, G and I planned a trip to Italy without the kiddos for June. We never really went on a proper honeymoon, and he had always wanted to take me there since he had served his mission there. It seemed like a good time to go since the kids were at manageable ages, and we weren't having anymore yet. (ha) It was all good to go until I got sick. Then we had pretty much decided not to go, but a few weeks before departure date, we (I) decided to suck it up and try to go anyway.

It turned out ok. It was SO great to be with just the two of us, and to hear him use his italian amazingness, BUT, I was still sick. We just had to really pace ourselves.

The flight over was great until about 20 minutes before we landed and I started puking everywhere. Unfortunately that didn't stop for the rest of the day. We were in Rome and had planned on seeing all the ruins and things, but after about an hour of puking all over the roman streets, I had to go to the hotel and sleep. So the first day was pretty much a waste..

This was the only site we saw, and there I am about to fall over. Ha.

The next day we went to see Vatican City. It was SO crowded. I really wanted a wheelchair, but there wasn't one to be found, so I just had to keep sitting down every few minutes during the tour. Luckily after a few hours I started feeling a little better and we were able to move a little quicker. It was pretty pathetic I must say...

The next day we went up to venice where we stayed for two days. I could have stayed forever. It is so gorgeous there.

Greg new the secret spots to see the city since he had served there.

We took boat rides out to the lace and glass islands, and both were GORGEOUS. Next time I might want to stay there. I bought a little lace dress for the baby, but when we got home, we found out it was a boy! oh well.

The grand canal.

This was the lobby of the apartment building we stayed in.

G splurged and took me for a gondola ride. Very romantic.

Our gondolier. He was like a 4th generation gondolier.

There were lots of leaning towers in and near venice. This one was right by where we stayed.

Next we went to florence. We only stayed over night, but we had both been there, so we didn't need to spend lots of time. I was feeling much better by this point in the trip. Luckily.

The last few days we spent driving around tuscany, with a stop in Sienna. This is where they have the famous horse race, and also where they filmed one of the twilight movies. Oh-la-la.

Tuscany was so gorgeous. I could have spent the week there alone. We stayed in a little villa across the valley from this one.

They even had a pool to lounge by.

This was the view for us one evening for dinner. So gorgeous.

We decided to head back to Rome for the last day since we didn't get to do what we wanted the first day we had arrived. We went to the coliseum, and took a tour of all the roman ruins.

Last night in Italy...

Glad we made the trip, because who knows when we will make it back. Hopefully next time I won't be 4.5 months prego though. :)

And you still took such amazing photos! They're beautiful. Loving all of your sun flare, & your preggo picks. You look darling, as always. And I want your dress. Right this second.

I also want to go back to Italy! Maybe someday I'll post photos of our trip... Sigh.

Wow. GORGEOUS images, Erin. You captured Italy perfectly, and I just loved all of the gorgeous, colorful pictures. Thank you so much for sharing. The picture you shot from your perspective sitting in the gondola of the front of the gondola looking down the canal took my breath away. For an instant I felt like I was there in Venice.

Thanks for the mini vacation through these images :)
