In case you were wondering what it looks like when you bite a hole through your bottom lip:
(except that these pictures don't even do the disgusting gruesomeness of it justice, thank goodness.)Yip you read that right...
Don't worry, she's not crying in the picture because she has a hole through her face, she is crying because she wanted to hold my camera.
And to think it happened all because she wanted to wear the woody costume. Darn those costumes. I rue the day I ever purchased them.... :) Well sorta.
The thing is two sizes too big, and she just tripped.
At first I thought it was just the usual bloody lip (she has already had two of those. Not to mention the frenulum disaster of 09. What can I say, the girl has SHARP teeth. Either that, or she is really clumsy, and has a sometimes mean brother. Or both...) but once I sopped up some of the bleeding, I realized there was a bit of a hole. Not a good sign. I pretty much freaked, started crying, and called my mom all at the same time. Then I called the doctor, and raced out the door.
We arrived in good fashion, and I was promptly asked if it was halloween at our house. Oh, these things? NO! These are normal attire! Apparently showing up with a mini buzz, and mini woody isn't quite the norm.
Quin was quickly cheered up when she saw a boy in toy story jammas, and spent our time waiting, mauling the poor kid.. She would walk right up to him, get in his face, and start pointing at and touching his chest, and screaming.
The doctor saw us soon, and quickly sent us to the childrens ER for stitches.
I called my sis in law Andrea, who saved the day and took Car off my hands, then I raced into town to the hospital. Luckily the docs there didn't think she needed stitches, and sent us home after a few hours.
Did I mention that I can hardly look at it? Seriously. It makes me woozy. You always hear the stories, but I can't believe this actually happened to my child. Poor thing.
*****
On a separate note, it is never a good thing when the ER doctors recognize you from when you were in a few weeks ago... They think you are abusive and ask you really crazy questions. Luckily I must have past the test, because I still have my child.
But seriously, Quin has had the most ROTTEN month and a half. It all started with the fever that ended up being a UTI. Then the doctor told us that when little ones have UTI's it is usually because of Urinary reflux, so we had to go back to the hospital and have an ultrasound, and x-ray done, which freaked her out. Then they put her on antibiotics for the reflux, but two days later she came down with an ear infection, but they did a catheter on her to check for a UTI to be sure it wasn't that (3rd catheter in a week and a half). Then she finally got done with that, and she bites a hole in her lip. Talk about BAD luck. She is terrified of the doctor, and points to the door the whole time we are there...
But on to better things. The day actually started out pretty good. The kids were happy, and apparently really in a loving mood. They kept giving each other hugs and kisses, laughing about it, and repeating... At one point Car made me join in the fun and said "Awww, I love you guys!" and hugged us as tight as he could..
Thanks again Andrea! I owe you one.

little quincey is still beautiful, and kids heal so easily.
the dentist thought jj's tooth wouldn't last 2 months that we would have to pull it but it has been almost a year and its still hanging in there. ;)
Poor Quin! I hope that she's feeling better and that her lip is healing quickly. Did you chop off the legs to the Woody costume yet?!?
And you don't owe me anything at all! I like spending time with Car - he's so adorable :).
karenin-
Thanks for the posts! I guess this stuff happens to everyone! I'm very glad I am not alone! :)
Poor Quin and poor you! It is a cruel part of biology that makes you feel even worse than your baby's pain, huh?
Just catchin' up...
Hannah bit a hole through her lip too, from the outside in, when she was two. It freaked me out. Quincey's looks worse though. Poor girl.
